Hunkering Down

I was supposed to be up at KU today for meetings, but campus has shut down like everything else in the Midwest, and I do mean everything — from K-12 schools to businesses and legislatures. All of this is in anticipation of the Big Blizzard of 2011, which is officially forecast to be “Horrific.” I’m affirming that my electricity will stay on today. I’m really, seriously affirming that we will have heat today and tomorrow and the day after that.

Meanwhile, practicing goodness in this instance has got to involve helping neighbors, staying calm, and enjoying the unexpected freedom.

I just glanced out my window. The first snow is falling. Compact white pellets, already swirling in the wind.

Stay safe, everyone.
